Two former summer interns hired as full-time Intern Architects

  • Uncategorized

EGH Architects is thrilled to announce the addition of Abigail Gauthier and Michael Herndon, two former EGH summer interns who have been hired as full-time Intern Architects. Both are 2025 graduates from the Mississippi State University School of Architecture and bring with them an immense amount of talent and energy to the EGH team.

Ms. Gauthier is originally from Brunswick, ME but moved to Vancleave, MS in 2019. Her passion for architecture stems from her love of art, math and problem-solving.

“As I learned more through school and my internship, I began to see how I could make an impact on the world around me through architecture,” says Gauthier of her architectural pursuit.

As a testament to her talent and a point of pride for Gauthier, the MSU School of Architecture asked if they could keep her fourth-year models as an example to demonstrate the excellence of the program for their 2025 NAAB Accreditation.

In her role as an Intern Architect in the Gulf Coast office, Gauthier looks forward to working with and continuing to learn alongside the team of EGH professionals she has come to know as a summer intern.

Herndon is a Biloxi, MS native and developed an interest in architecture and the art of building things from a very early age. It was his love of Legos that served as his earliest inspiration when he used to engineer giant robots as tall as he was.

“It all started with Legos,” says Herndon of his earliest inspiration. “I used to engineer giant robots as tall as I was.”

As with the versatility of Legos, Herndon ascribes the same in what interests him most about the profession of Architecture.

“Already in my first week, I’ve worked on presentations and helped prepare closeout documents for the construction management team,” says Herndon. “No two weeks are ever the same.”

Herndon completed two thesis projects while in architecture school. The first looked at disaster relief in the state of Mississippi and how it affects the built environment. The second was his 5th year project that he decided to fully draw by hand. As a new Intern Architect in the Jackson office, Herndon looks forward to staying in Mississippi and finding ways to make an impact with the work of EGH and in collaboration with others in the city of Jackson, MS.
