Project Bio

Northwest Mississippi Community College — Senatobia, Mississippi
The design for this new 168 BED residence hall is organized around central common spaces flanked by residential wings located on two floors. The common areas are designed to promote interaction and accommodate resident activities by providing a variety of comfortable study and lounge areas. Exterior spaces were also designed to encourage and facilitate student interaction including a large courtyard enclosed by the flanking building wings and a covered exterior porch. The building was purposely located to terminate the axis of a main campus street and help with wayfinding on campus. The design of the exterior incorporates neoclassical architectural elements that reflect the original historic campus buildings in an effort to re-establish visual continuity and a common architectural vocabulary that has been lost over a number of decades with the construction of numerous buildings that were insensitive to the historic roots of the campus.
