Project Bio
Mississippi Department of Archives and History — Jackson, Mississippi
The Museum of Mississippi History and Mississippi Civil Rights Museum share a building situated on historic Le Fleur’s Bluff, overlooking the Mississippi State Fairgrounds to the east, and facing the historical city center of Jackson to the west. Both museums enclose a large, landscaped plaza at the center of the block. A sloping lawn facing a stage at the south end provides an area for outdoor performances, concerts, homecomings, and festivals. The museums share a public entrance, support spaces, an auditorium, a museum store, a curatorial suite, and large archival/collections storage spaces.
